Linz is an extremely family-friendly destination for a city break. You could take a ride with the Pöstlingbergbahn, one of the world’s steepest adhesion railways, to the enchanting Dwarf and Fairytale World. If experimenting and researching is your thing, then the Ars Electronica Center, the “museum of the future”, is the place to go. Or go exploring at the Linz Castle Museum. If you want something a bit quieter, then check out the Linz Music Theatre, which regularly stages kid-friendly performances of drama, music, dance and puppet theatre.
At this experience centre for all the family, you can get up close and personal with steel, using multi-media. Everything you need to know about steel production, its importance and many interactive exhibits make this trip something special!
Enjoy a fabulous view of the city of Linz. The Linz Zoo, home to around 600 exotic and local animals, is situated halfway up Pöstlingberg. There’s so much to see on the nearly four-acre site – marvel at meerkats, zebras, red pandas, antelopes, kangaroos, parrots and many other animals.

Explore – Think – Imagine at the Ars Electronica Center
The Ars Electronica Center gives children an opportunity to experience the exhibits hands-on at different exploratory stations. Everything here is about touching and trying things out. Families are invited to learn more about innovative projects from the fields of art, technology, science and society. Since 24 June, the new Kids’ Research Laboratory has been an inspiration for young and old. Top it all off with a guided family tour.
