Not only does Zagreb offer a wealth of cultural opportunities, it also has numerous family attractions! Spend a fun afternoon at the zoo in Maksimir Park, be a knight or a lady at Medvedgrad Castle, or discover Zagreb from above - your kids will love it!

Zoo in Maksimir Park

Maksimir Park is Zagreb’s largest park and was also one of the first parks in south-east Europe. Spread out over more than 300 hectares, it is located in the north-east of the city. It is also home to Zagreb Zoo, where over 2220 animals are housed.

Medvedgrad Castle

Perched on the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain is Medvedgrad Castle, which originally served to protect against attacks by the Turks.  Medvedgrad has an important role in Zagreb’s history, and is the scene for many local legends.

Zagreb from above

The historical Lotrščak defence tower, built in the 13th century, offers stunning views over Zagreb. But be aware: As part of a centuries-old tradition, a cannon is fired from the tower every day at 12.00. The best way to reach the tower is via the funicular railway.
